Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, efficient, and customer-focused Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will handle customer transactions accurately and ensure seamless point-of-sale operations.


Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to accurately process customer payments, including cash and other tender types, following established procedures.
  • Verify product information and pricing during scanning, promptly notifying a supervisor or manager of any discrepancies, missing items, or incorrect descriptions in the system.
  • Ensure customers promptly receive their receipts after each transaction.
  • Reconcile daily transactions with precision.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a friendly, professional demeanour, engaging customers warmly, smiling often, and expressing gratitude after each interaction.
  • Proactively check if customers are members of our loyalty program, GWP Rewards, and encourage non-members to sign up.
  • Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales.
  • Assist with sales and merchandising activities as needed.
  • Assist customers with packing their bags as needed to ensure a smooth checkout experience.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Maintain organized files and records.
  • Keep the checkout area clean and organized.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
  • Be available to work overtime when required.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of 5 CSEC passes, including Mathematics or Accounts and English Language.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a cashier or retail role.
  • Strong numerical skills and basic knowledge of bookkeeping.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional and energetic demeanor, able to engage customers warmly.
  • Proficiency in operating point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Keen attention to detail, especially in verifying product information and pricing accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage customer inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and occasionally assist with lifting or moving items.
  • Experience in supermarket, hardware, or general retail environments is considered an asset.
